AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND GOOD NIGHT. :D

recently, I had been playing a lot of videogames that involves the UNDEAD or much more popularyly called as ZOMBIES. then it came to me that there were a lot of games, shows, mangas, anime that involves the undead. AND, there were differences in the descriptions of these zombies in each of these media. here are some:

1.) Left 4 Dead Zombies

this is a really awesome 1st person shooting game. the story is about 4 survivors, well, surviving in zombie apocalypse. there are the normal zombies that attack, bite, scratch and other methods of gory violence the player. in this game, zombies are likely to be attracted by sound, and apparently can still use their sense of vision. however, there are some SPECIAL kinds of zombies/infected.

in the first installment of left4dead, the special infected are:
> boomer - a fat zombie that pukes a liquid to a survivor that can attract a horde of zombies. also, attacking this zombie with a gun in a close range can also do the same.
> smoker - this one has a long tongue that can choke one of the survivors. if caught, one cannot escape by himself/herself and will need the help of others. when this zombie is killed, smoke comes out of its body, causing survivors to choke, cough and it affects the survivor’s vision.
> hunter - this is my personal favorite of the special infected. a hunter can leap very high and far and can attack a survivor from affar. like the smoker, one needs help if attacked by this zombie.
> witch - the witch is one of the special infected that, if chosen, can be avoided. it can be disturbed by flashing of light or by firing at it and once disturbed, it will come after the one who disturbed it until one of them dies.
> tanker - the strongest and toughest among the special infected, much like a tank, hence the name. it can only be taken down if all the four survivors work together. it can knockdown a survivor with just one hit.

for the second installment of left4dead, 4 more special infected were added.
> spitter - a zombie that spits acid on an area that can cause damage to survivors. also, if killed, the area around it will be full of acid too.
> jockey - a small zombie that jumps atop a survivor and attacks from there. one needs help in order to escape from this zombie.
> charger - a zombie with one large arm and well, charges at its opponent. its weakness is one it charges, it cannot stop until it hits something.
> female boomer - much like the same as the boomer, only a girl version.

2.) The Walking Dead Zombies

this one is a comic book and was adopted as a TV series. it currently have 2 awesome seasons and I think there will still be a third one. the story is about a police officer and his group surviving the zombie apocalypse that had suddenly occurred while he was in a coma. well, the zombies in this one is much like the same in left4dead, they are attracted to sound and they can still see. also, they can smell if you are dead or not. so one cannot walk among them without being dead. however, one does not need to be bitten, scratch or anything. one only needs to die in order to become a zombie. according to the story, everyone carries the virus and they only need to die to become a WALKER.

3.) Resident Evil Zombies

this one started as video game released by CAPCOM about Raccoon City being infected by a virus called T-Virus by Umbrella Corporation. this game currently has many installments, and i’m not sure how many there really are. the only ones i played are, resident evil 3, 4, and 5. i want to download resident evil: operation raccoon city but i saw some negative feedback about it so i’m still thinking about it. there is also a 6th installment, and i’m still waiting for it. also, there is a movie adaptation of this game. in the games, there are many characters that had become the protagonist. but in the movie, only one character is the protagonist which goes by the name Alice, played by Milla Jovovich. anyways, there are many types of zombies in this one, and many types of virus developed which can affect human, animals and even plants. and there was a special one by the name of Albert Wesker with the virus but he is still human in appearance but he have extraordinary speed and strength. also, there are some zombies here who can actually speak or communicate to each other.

4.) Silent Hill Zombies (or monsters?)

i don’t think the ones in this game can’t be called as zombies. because according to the game, they are “monsters” and not zombies. but still, this is worth being included here. this game is about a mysterious place called Silent Hill wherein a lot of monsters appear every now and then. i’m still not sure about the history of Silent Hill itself, but i know that there is an Order that lives in this place and they have lots of well, unholy traditions. when i play this game, i always ask this question to the protagonists: “why do you always go to Silent Hill even though you know its history?” so far, the only installments i had played are, Silent Hill origins, 2, 5, and a little bit of 4. well, the monsters in this game have a wide variety. there insects that suck on your health once they latched on you, there are nurses with no face, monsters with head shaped like axe, monsters that looks like mental hospital patients, dogs that have no skin, and the very famous Pyramid Head, which always have a really large weapon that it drags on the ground. there is also a movie adaptation of this game.

5.) High School of the Dead Zombies

okay. first things first. this is a manga/anime and, wait for it, it is ECCHI. meaning, there are some erotic content on it. i mean, the girls in this one have really large breasts and apparently they wear really short skirts. and in the anime, their breasts really bounces like, yeahh. :D
anyway, the zombies in this one is somehow different. if from the other ones, zombies can see, well in this one, they can’t. they are still attracted to sounds, but their vision are gone. this proven when they tested one by throwing a wet towel to a locker. the zombie was attracted to the sound and bumped into the locker many times. so meaning, it can’t see the locker because if it could, it shouldn’t have bumped to it a lot of times. and that explains their lost of their vision. what a real loss. if only they knew what they were missing to see among the students. :)) another difference is that, a living can walk among them as long as they don’t make any sound. this was proven by one of the protagonist walking among the undead in order to get out of the school.

6.) Plants VS. Zombies Zombies

well, this one is probably really famous to many people. if not, well then, this game is actually self-explanatory. its about a horde of zombie attacking a house and the only ones standing in their way? a defense battalion of different kinds of zombie killing PLANTS. the zombies in this game only wants the brains of people, but they get to eat a lot of plants as well. the zombies also have a wide variety, from the normal zombies, to football player zombies, to scuba diver zombies, even to those who can drive ice producing mawers. in this game, the zombies are kind of funny, well because its supposed to be for kids.

well, those are the only ones i can think of as of now. i know there are lots of other movie, tv show, game, comic book, manga, etc. that offers other types of zombies as well. which makes me think, IF EVER, and i hope to God that this won’t happen, there happens to be a zombie apocalypse among us, which one of those kinds of zombies will be upon us? well, whatever it is, i really hope it won’t happen ever. :)))
